The MAAP, our quarterly newsletter, in four volumes, has a basic format of letters from parents, professionals, and individuals with autism in which they share advice and information with one another. Poetry and artwork are sometimes included. In addition, we have occasional interviews with experts in the field of autism and notices about conferences concerned with Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, or Pervasive Developmental Disorder. The Maap subscription cost includes four quarterly editions and the optional Networking Directory. Subscribers will be brought up to date with all current issues available at the time they subscribe, with the remainder of the year’s volumes being sent by mail as they are printed.

Meltdown Cards are standard-sized business cards with the MAAP Services for Autism and Asperger Syndrome contact information on them. The reverse side of the card states that the person receiving the card is witnessing the “meltdown” or severe upset of a person with Autism or Asperger Syndrome. The card requests that they not interfere unless requested, assures them that the person handing them the card is doing their best to handle the situation and that they can call MAAP if they have further questions. These cards are invaluable to people who travel, as they can avert unfortunate contact with airport security, police and others who are in authority on the highways, in airports, train stations, etc.

Autism Awareness Bracelets have the autism puzzle pieces in primary colors on a blue band. Wear them to honor the special people in your lives.

Autism Awareness Ribbon Magnets are ribbons to put on your car bumper, door or trunk. They are emblazoned with the autism puzzle pieces in primary colors.
